Staycation.co.uk is an independent guide to holidays in Britain — written for people who want to know what a place is actually like before they book.
We cover destinations across England, Scotland and Wales: what there is to do, how to get there, when to go, and where to stay once you arrive. Every destination guide is written from scratch and structured the same way, so you can compare places on the things that matter rather than wading through marketing copy.
Alongside the destination guides we maintain listings for hotels, B&Bs, guest houses, campsites, glamping sites and caravan parks. Each has its own page with facilities, rough prices and an honest description of who it suits.
Staycation.co.uk is operated by Lifestyle Media Group Ltd, a UK company that has been publishing travel and lifestyle websites since 2008. We also run UKTourism.co.uk.
The site is free to use and we do not charge businesses to be listed. We earn commission when a reader follows one of our accommodation links and goes on to book — this costs you nothing and does not change the price you pay.
Crucially, we do not accept payment for placement or for positive coverage. Properties appear because we think they are worth knowing about, not because someone paid to be there. Where a link earns us commission it is marked as an affiliate link, and every page carries a disclosure in the footer.
We also show advertising, which is clearly distinguishable from our editorial content.
Our destination guides are researched from a range of sources: official tourist boards, national park authorities, transport operators, and first-hand knowledge where we have it. We check journey times, seasonal opening and prices at the time of writing.
Travel information dates quickly. Prices change, businesses close, and timetables get rewritten. We update pages as we become aware of changes, but we would always recommend confirming the details that matter to your trip directly with the provider before you travel.
If something on the site is out of date, inaccurate, or a property has changed hands or closed, we genuinely want to know. It is the fastest way for us to keep the site useful. Get in touch and we will look into it.
