Heated outdoor pool and Beacons views on the edge of Brecon
Bishops Meadow sits on the northern edge of Brecon, close enough to walk into town for supplies or an evening meal but far enough out to have open views south towards the Beacons. It is a five-star graded park under the Visit Wales scheme with around eighty pitches, ranging from small grass tent plots to fully serviced hardstandings large enough for a big motorhome and an awning. The layout is spacious and the ground is level, which makes it an easy site to arrive at late.
The facilities set it apart from most touring parks in the area. A heated outdoor swimming pool with a poolside patio opens daily from May to September, weather permitting, and there is a children's play park alongside. On site you will also find a bar, restaurant and cafe, a laundry room and a small shop selling milk, bread, groceries, gas, newspapers and ice cream. Wifi is available across the park. The combination of pool, food and playground makes this an unusually easy option for families who do not want to cook every night.
As a base it works well for the central Beacons, with the A470 and the Storey Arms trailheads about twenty minutes away by car, and Brecon's canal basin, market and shops within easy reach on foot or by bike. Dogs are welcome. The park is open through the main season rather than year-round, and the busiest periods are August and bank holiday weekends, when the pool and the pitches near it go first.
