Simple farm camping beside Broad Haven South beach on the Stackpole coast
Trefalen Farm is about as close as you can legally camp to Broad Haven South, one of the finest beaches in south Pembrokeshire. The site occupies two sloping fields on a working farm near Bosherston, both with views over the bay, and the walk down to the sand takes a few minutes. Behind the beach lie the Bosherston lily ponds, and the coast path runs east towards Stackpole Quay and Barafundle Bay and west along the Castlemartin cliffs, which makes this an unusually good base for walking.
The facilities are basic and the site does not pretend otherwise. There is a single toilet block, fresh water taps and washing-up sinks around the fields, and a very simple shower arrangement with cold water only, so anyone who needs a hot shower every morning should look elsewhere. There is no shop, no electric hook-up, no wifi and no playground. What there is instead is space, quiet, dark skies and a location that better-equipped sites cannot match. Dogs are welcome but must be kept under close control around stock.
Pricing reflects the simplicity and Trefalen remains among the cheaper coastal sites in the county. It suits tent campers, coast path walkers and people who genuinely prefer a field to a facilities block; it is not the right choice for large caravans or for families expecting entertainment on site. Note that the Castlemartin firing range next door is used by the Army, and access to some cliff sections is closed on firing days, with schedules published in advance. Book ahead for school holidays, arrive prepared for wind off the bay, and bring everything you need, because the nearest proper shops are in Pembroke, around fifteen minutes away by car.
